Pamplona, primer día / Pamplona, first day.

Plaza del Castillo

Hoy os invito a visitar una ciudad que para mí es muy especial, yo digo que soy "pamplonica" de corazón porque así lo siento. 

Sí, cuando Pamplona comienza a montar el vallado para los sanfermines y la ciudad se inunde de rojo y blanco, los colores de San Fermín;  os voy a dar unos consejos para que no os perdáis detalles de esta ciudad que tiene un encanto difícil de olvidar. Es una ciudad sencilla, antigua y moderna a la vez. 

Heminway en Cafe Iruña

Un buen lugar para iniciar nuestro recorrido sería la Plaza del Castillo, corazón de la ciudad, rodeada por casas en su mayoría del siglo XVIII en las que destacan balconadas, torretas, áticos y ventanales, para seguir por el casco viejo. Aquí encontramos dos símbolos conocidos universalmente gracias a Heminway, que hizo famosos los sanfermines con su libro Fiesta: el Hotel La Perla, donde el escritor se hospedaba cuando visitaba la ciudad y todavía guarda sus recuerdos; y el Café Iruña, un clásico, donde podrás disfrutar del placer de sentarse junto al Premio Nobel, una escultura reposa allí.

Ayuntamiento 

Cuando el 6 de julio se dispare el chupinazo, un año más todos veremos la Plaza del Ayuntamiento, con una fachada de estilo barroco y un remate superior, adornado con figuras alegóricas y un reloj en el frontón, neoclásico.

El encierro tiene un primer tramo desde la Cuesta de Santo Domingo, donde se sitúa el Museo de Navarra, hasta la Casa Consistorial y la calle Mercaderes. Después se enfila a la calle Estafeta hasta la calle Telefónica y entra en el Callejón que da acceso a la Plaza de Toros.

Iglesia de San Saturnino

En la calle mayor puedes visitar la Iglesia de San Saturnino, patrón de Pamplona.  Allá podemos apreciar el "pocico" en el que San Cernin bautizó a los primeros navarros, entre ellos a San Fermín. Tiene un bello atrio del siglo XVIII, portada y tímpano.

Pilar Idoate 

Para hospedarte te recomiendo el Hotel Europa, sus balcones te permitirán ver la emoción del encierro. Aquí la familia Idoate te harán sentir como en casa. Y, claro, comer en su restaurante será una delicia. Como homenaje, os aconsejo, el Menú Eugenia, probaréis la maravillosa cocina de Pilar Idoate, pero haréis un homenaje a Eugenia Idoate, porque sigue "taconeando" por los salones; aunque también pediremos un pastel fluido de chocolate con helado de queso, ella sabe porqué.

Catedral de Pamplona

Nos desviamos del encierro hasta la gran Catedral gótica, el monumento más emblemático de la ciudad y el que más tesoros históricos - artísticos conserva. Fue construida durante los siglos XIV y XV. La joya principal es el claustro,  y el Museo Diocesano. Allí también podemos ver las vistas desde el baluarte del Redín. Porque Pamplona es una ciudad con historia y con numerosos parques donde pasear: Jardines de la Taconera, un pequeño zoo entre murallas; la Ciudadela, antiguo castillo militar del siglo XVII.

Va siendo hora de tomar algo, ¿no? Pues les aconsejo tres lugares que no olvidarán: subimos por la Avenida Carlos III desde su estatua podemos ver el Palacio de Navarra, Teatro Gayarre, llegaremos a la plaza de Merindades, la Iglesia de San Antonio y, la cafetería Florida, un lugar donde pueden saborear una tostada con nata.

O puedes seguir hasta Conde de Rodezno, donde podrás disfrutar de alguna exposición dentro del edificio del Valle de los Caídos y merendar en El Obrador, aquí mi consejo son los lazos, aunque cualquier cosa te gustará.

For staying I recommend the Hotel Europa, balconies allow you to see the excitement of closure. Idoate family here will make you feel at home. And, of course, eat at your restaurant will be a delight. As a tribute, I advise the menu Eugenia, will taste the wonderful cuisine of Pilar Idoate, but will do a tribute to Eugenia Idoate, because it follows "clattering" through the halls; but also ask a fluid chocolate cake with cream cheese, she knows why.
Move off the route to the great Gothic Cathedral, the most emblematic monument of the city and the most historic treasures - art preserved. It was built during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. The jewel is the cloister, and the Diocesan Museum. Here we can see the view from the bastion of Redín. Because Pamplona is a city with history and many parks where you can walk: Gardens of the Taconera, a small zoo between walls; the Citadel, a former military castle of the seventeenth century.
It is time to take something, right?
